Kate Bollinger begins the year with her Planes and Trains solo tour through Europe and a fitting cover of the 1967 French pop classic "J'aime les filles" by Jacques Dutronc.

"I love Jacques Dutronc and wanted to sing this song for a while," says Bollinger. "The band sounds so classic and sophisticated, but the lyrics are silly. Normally I like for cover songs to stray far from the original, but I felt differently here. I wanted to stay pretty true to the Jacques version."

The song was recorded at Jonathan Wilson's Topanga Canyon studio and features Wilson on percussion and Drew Erickson on piano and organ. A vibraphone phrase from Grant Milliken glides over the top, mingling with Bollinger's sweet delivery.

"J'aime les filles" follows two singles last fall — "Running" on Ghostly International and “Pictures of You,” a collaboration with Drugdealer for his album on Mexican Summer — and the spring 2022 release of Bollinger’s Ghostly debut EP, Look at it in the Light, lauded by the likes of NPR and The Fader. Now based in Los Angeles, the Virginia-born songwriter toured for much of 2022, including support shows for Faye Webster and L'imperatrice, as well as her first headlining tour. Following the European run in January 2023, Bollinger will return to a full-band setup, joining Tennis for their US tour in March.
